Travel Day #2

We were glad our flight was delayed. It felt like the first thing that was going our way. Too bad Edee's little body just didn't want to adjust to CA time. So we wake up at 5:30 (local time) with Edee. She doesn't want to go back to sleep. So we get ready and head back to the airport. We arrive at the check-in before 8:30. And then we find out our flight is delayed even more. They don't even give up an estimated time. Lovely. We check in and head to the gating area to wait.

No flights were leaving San Diego, again because of fog. So the gating area was packed. We got a spot on the floor and staked our claim to it. Edee got to wander around. She made a lot of friends. Both girls enjoyed the escalator that we rode up and down at least 10 times.

Our 7:15 flight, delayed initially to 9:15, was delayed again until 10:55 and again until 11:25. We boarded the plane, got Edee's car seat hooked in and were ready. Luckily they boarded the plane quickly and we were off. Then we waited on the runway for awhile. We managed to finally get in the air around 12:15ish.

I was prepared for a rough flight.....5 hours and 40 minutes. But it went great. The girls were good. Edee cried a few times, but nothing horrible. Both girls slept over 2 hours. I guess that was the good part about the travel nightmare the day before. They were exhausted. Steve and I were running on fumes. We both only had about 3 hours of sleep the night before. Too bad neither of us could sleep on the plane. We arrived in Maui, 4:00ish local time, very tired but excited.

Here's Edee asleep in her car seat on the plane.

Steve picked up our rental car and manged to get a Ford Explorer. It's super fancy and I've had to pull out the manual 2 times already to figure out how to work certain functions. And we were off to grab some food. We found a Quiznos. Spent almost $30 on a meal.

Then we headed toward the west side of the island and our condo. It was about a 45 minute drive, much of it along the coast. We timed it perfect and saw a beautiful sunset over the ocean. We couldn't have planned it any better. This was taken from our car. :)

We arrived at our condo to be greeted by Nana, Papa, Aunt Tina and Uncle Brian. They helped us up to our room. Then it was off to bed early.
